Published on June 3, 2015 in the Sun Journal

GREENE - Laurier T. (Lany) Turcotte. 72. of Greene. passed away at home on Monday. June 1 after a lengthy battle with cancer with his loving wife and children by his side. He fought bravely. never complaining and always remaining positive.

Larry was born on April 13, 1943. the second son of Philip Turcotte and Anna Denis Turcotte. He attended Lewiston schools and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1961. He also took classes at El Camino College in California.

Larry worked at Hall & Knight, later Redlon & Johnson, for 43 years. There, he met Sue, who later became his wife. and they recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary.

Larry loved spending time with his family and attending all of his children's and grandchildren's activities. He loved sports and was a Little League and volleyball coach and played baseball, softball, volleyball and golf. He also enjoyed his Friday night bowling league.

He had a few hobbies that he thoroughly enjoyed, including photography, woodworking, building beautiful stone walls and cutting wood in the Tuck fields. He also loved to travel and visited National Parks out West, and took trips to Washington D.C., Gettysburg, Florida, Europe, the Caribbean, and many memorable Maine destinations.

An unselfish and caring man, he was well-loved as a husband, father, pepere, brother, brother-in-law, uncle. cousin and good friend to many. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Larry is survived by his wife, Sue; daughter, Julie and her husband, Jamie; and granddaughters, Jenna and Jalee; son, Barry and his wife. Alison; brothers, Denis and Norman; in-laws, Ellen, Claire and Jerry, Nancy and Jack, Bob and Gail, and Jerry; 13 nieces; and three nephews. He was predeceased by both of his parents in 1984; and a brother, Ron, in 2011.

A special thanks to Dr. Daniel Rausch and his wonderful staff for their heartfelt care and genuine concern. Also, to Dr. Michael Parker and his dedicated staff, Dr. Lise Cloutier and Dr. Michael Brown and the caring staff at Central Maine Medical Center. We would like to also thank Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, especially Kathleen for her support and compassion which was greatly appreciated and to Donna for her assistance.

We love you, Turk!
